The CHL is proud to announce new staff members for its head office in Zurich. With Alex Jaeger (Sports Manager) and Florian Mayer (Sport & Marketing Coordinator) already started on 1 July, the team will be complemented by Monika Reinhard-Brand, who will join as Communications Manager by 1 October. The CHL welcomes its new colleagues and wishes them the best of luck in their new roles. For their individual bios please click here.
At the same time it is with deep regret to inform that Szymon Szemberg is leaving the Champions Hockey League. Szymon has decided to pursue a new challenge outside the Champions Hockey League and will therefore resign his position by the end of August 2015.
Szymon was hired by the IIHF in February 2001 and was promoted to Communications Director in May 2007. Szymon was one of the IIHF’s key drivers in the process which led to the Hockey Forum in Barcelona in June 2012 and which eventually led to the founding of the Champions Hockey League in December 2013.
He played a major role coordinating the working groups which during 2013 determined the future structures for the CHL. He left the IIHF in March 2014 for the new position with the Champions Hockey League.
His knowledge about European club hockey and its structures helped the CHL and its marketing partner Infront to shape the tournament format.
“Working for the Champions Hockey League was a privilege, as I deeply believe in the potential of European club hockey and a pan-European hockey league,” said Szemberg. “The time leading up to the founding of the CHL and being part of the inaugural year, with all the challenges it presented, was incredibly exciting. But as often is the case with consuming projects, there comes a time to move on.”
The CHL would hereby like to thank Szymon Szemberg for the great work he did for the CHL in the last years and we wish him all the best and good luck in his professional and personal future.
