Liberec and SaiPa earned one-goal victories on home ice, while KalPa and Fribourg skated to a draw in the first games of the Round of 16.
Bili Tygri Liberec 1–0 Vitkovice Ridera Ostrava
It was a defensive struggle all night, and just when it looked like Liberec and Vitkovice would finish the first leg of their two-game series goalless, it was Bili Tygri that got a late shorthanded goal, meaning they will take a one-goal advantage into Ostrava in the return leg. Vitkovice smelled the chance to take the lead into their home half of the series, but go over-agressive and an ill-advised pass was picked off, leading to a shorthanded 2-on-1 for Liberec. Radim Simek found Milan Bartovic, and after two previous great chances, three times was the charm for Bartovic, one-timing it past Daniel Dolejs with 3:34 to play.

KalPa Kuopio 1–1 Fribourg-Gotteron
The Round of 16 series between Fribourg-Gotteron and KalPa Kuopio started with a tie-game on Tuesday, making next Tuesday’s contest vital for both teams in Champions Hockey League play. It was an evenly played contest, with each team scoring once and both goaltenders making some timely saves.
SaiPa Lappeenranta 3–2 Vaxjo Lakers
SaiPa were not phased by giving up their two-goal lead and eventually going ahead again with Tomi Leivo poking the puck into the net after a goalmouth scramble at 55:44. That goal was enough for SaiPa to hold on for the win, and take a one-goal lead with them to Sweden next week.
