Vienna entertian Skelleftea in both teams' first game of this Champions Hockey League season.
Having never faced Austrian opposition in the CHL, Skelleftea AIK start their 2016-17 campaign in Vienna against a Capitals side with new hope behind their bench.
Vienna have managed to qualify form their group in both of their previous two CHL seasons, going out in the round after each time. Domestically after two tight races for the EBEL trophy with no reward, the club has appointed Serge Aubin as new head coach for this season. New netminder JP Lamoureux, arriving from Villach, will be key to the team's success.
Skelleftea AIK, on the other hand, have made at least the last eight in both CHL seasons so far, and have been one of the most consistent performers in the competition. New arrivals to the team bring experience in bucketloads: Joakim Lindstrom and Oscar Moller from the KHL, and Johan Alm from the AHL, go in alongside five other new signings from the SHL.
