Red Bull Salzburg vs HV71 Jonkoping
Just a point will be enough for Salzburg to qualify tonight for the next round, as Sheffield can only get three points in the group now. With HV71 already qualified, Salzburg can go level on points with the Swedes in the race to win the group if they take a victory. For the Jonkoping club, a win would move them closer to winning Group P.
"We have trained very hard in the last weeks and our players are hungry to play more CHL this season," said Greg Poss, Red Bulls' coach. "HV71 are a top team in Europe, and we know that we'll have to work hard. We have beaten HV71 in recent years so it's doable if every player beings his best performance."
”Red Bull Salzburg is a tough team. HV71 has played against them many times the past years and know what it takes," said Stephan Lundh, assistant coach at HV71. "We have to play our best hockey with much speed and intensity tomorrow.”
Interestingly, this is the third straight year that these two teams have met in the group stage of the CHL. In 2014-15, Salzburg took all six points and finished first in the group, and then in 2015-16 it was HV71 that took all six points and won the group. Once again, it will probably be the winner of their head-to-head series that wins the group. Will one team sweep again, or will it be a more even split?
