The CHL Sports Board has taken disciplinary action based on an incident during the Krefeld Pinguine–Vienna Capitals game on Thursday, 3 September.

With input from the Arbitrator and upon video review, player Mario Fischer (#50) of the Vienna Capitals, at 30:02 of the game on Thursday, 3 September in Krefeld, made contact with an opponent deemed Checking to the Head or Neck Area – IIHF Rule 124.

From the CHL Sports Board's perspective, it is clear that Mario Fischer‘s action requires supplementary discipline. Fischer alters his direction immediately before contact from an angling path to one directly in a line towards the opposing player, leaving the opposing player defenceless. There was slight elevation into contact to make significant contact with the opposing player's head/neck area. Fischer had an alternate skating lane available. The opposing player did have an apparent injury on the play.

From the perspective of the CHL Sports Board, Mario Fischer is suspended for 1 CHL game, effective immediately.

Fischer will miss Vienna's final group stage game in Oulu against Karpat on Saturday, 5 September. As his team has qualified for the CHL playoffs, he will be able to play in the first leg of the Round of 32.
